Years ago in a previous life, I came home from a long day’s work, plopped down on the sofa, turned on the tube, and saw the most incredible advert. It featured the Anderson family and their life here on the Isle of Man. Little did I know at the time that not only would I be making the life-changing decision to move here but that I would be in a future video and on the front cover of the official visitors guide.
Since moving here I’ve put myself forward as a voluntary ambassador for this wonderful place I call home. I blog about it, I volunteer my time for local organisations, and I tell everyone I know what a magical place this is to be. On this tiny island we have hidden sites and mysterious landmarks, ages-old history, landscapes from forested glens to hills purple with heather, and community friendliness and security that is unrivaled.
It’s a place that at first may seem small and quaint but then it astonishes you with how much there is to do, especially if you love the outdoors. This is a place that is ideal for those who love biking, hiking, gardening, sailing, kayaking, fell running, and beekeeping. It’s not all about the TT Motorcycle races either, but I will tell you that during that time this island comes alive with the excitement of thousands of visitors from all over the world. This Isle of Man is where you want to be.
