Warmed Wine with Winter Spices
If you’re looking for an easy and warming winter drink, look no further. This winter wine recipe combines the sweetness of honey and apple juice with warming spices. It can be compared to a white wine version of mulled wine.
Mulled Apple Wine with Cinnamon & Ginger
Makes 8 Servings
1 bottle White Wine, ideally sweet and crisp
1 Litre (4.25 cups) Apple Juice
2″ Ginger, sliced
1 Cinnamon stick
4 shots of Whiskey
8 tsp Honey
1. Pour the wine and apple juice into a sauce pan and add the ginger and cinnamon. Cover and heat on low for thirty minutes. You want the spices to infuse into the liquid buy you don’t want it to boil. High temperatures and simmering will reduce the alcohol content.
2. Remove the spices and pour the spiced wine into eight mugs. Into each mug also add 1/2 shot of whiskey and a teaspoon of honey. Garnish with a stick of cinnamon if you’d like and serve immediately.
